Assistant Management Controller

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Head of Finance and the US based Assistant Management Controller by working closely with the Management Accounting team to be accountable for multiple aspects of Capstone’s management company including five foreign subsidiaries and two general partner entities 
  • Ownership of regulatory and statutory reporting for local jurisdictions, including presenting at the UK Governing Body meetings, reviewing member accounts and working closely with the Head of Compliance (UK & Europe) on ICARA filings, as well as overseeing Italy's legal books and records. 
  • Work on complex accounting projects, such as transfer pricing, trader payout calculations, and consolidations of various foreign entities 
  • Collaborate with the SVP of FP&A on month end reporting and cash management for all entities, including cash projections as well as monitoring & managing exposure to and hedging foreign currency, along with other ad-hoc reporting requests 
  • Work closely with the Director of Tax on Partner Allocations, entity level profit & loss splits and tax initiatives for the firm 
  • Plan and oversee various improvement and automation projects to increase efficiency, maximize resources, and improve the quality controls available to us 
  • Work with the Fund Accounting team to maintain consistency between their books and Management Accounting team’s 
  • Review of month end account reconciliations for various entities, as well as foreign subsidiary translation & consolidation 
  • Support the annual audits for the management company and it’s foreign subsidiaries 
  • Coach junior staff in performing their responsibilities and serving as a mentor to help guide them on professional development opportunities 
  • Other duties as assigned 

DESIRABLE CANDIDATES:

  • Strong organizational skills in oversight of various tasks concurrently while maintaining awareness of their status in achieving the established deadline 
  • Experience multitasking, able to manage multiple projects and deliverables at one time: plan, document and coordinate projects as well as ensuring the team makes continuous progress, hits planned deadlines and ultimately delivers on the results 
  • Prior experience with UK regulatory and statutory requirements 
  • Interest and prior experience in coordinating process improvement, overall quality control of procedures 
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and concisely (both written and verbal communication)  
  • Strong dedication to quality 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VBA or Microsoft Power Suite) experience is a plus), and a high level of expertise in accounting software packages (familiarity with Great Plains is a plus) 
  • 7-9 years of experience with management company accounting (preferably from an investment manager with foreign subsidiaries) 
  • ACCA certification is a plus 
  • Project management/system implementation experience, especially as it relates to onboarding a new general ledger) is a plus 
  • Experience interacting with a tax team is a plus

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
